These grilled cinnamon rolls are a great, quick and simple recipe that you can try out when then grill’s coals are getting ready to die out but you still have some room for dessert.
But being simple doesn’t mean it can’t be delicious!
We’re not making the cinnamon rolls from scratch here, but stay posted for a cinnamon roll recipe soon. Mini rolls are a superb choice for this recipe because you can place them on a skewer to make them much easier to handle. It’s also possible to alternate between the rolls and some other sweet items like marshmallows or fruit such as these grilled peaches.
Skewer the rolls making sure each roll is snug and adjacent to its neighbor so that they don’t rotate when being transferred to the grill. All of the rolls should be facing in the same direction so it’ll be difficult to rotate just one of them if one happens to turn on its way to the grill.
If you are using the grill for dessert after having grilled something else, make sure to use an unused area of the grill or to clean it off beforehand. You don’t want your soon-to-be dessert tasting like the meats or veggies that you grilled earlier. Place the skewers on the grill away from the heat source. Placing the the rolls too close to the heat source will cause them to burn quickly.
Cook the rolls until the icing around the edges is just starting to melt and bubble, about 5 to 7 minutes. For extra crispness, place the rolls directly above the heat source for the last 30-45 seconds. Keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t burn.
These cinnamon rolls are perfect to eat right off the grill as is or served with powdered sugar and or fruit. Enjoy!
